My
background is in Computer Animation and Visual Effects from Sheridan College. I
also have a BA Honours in Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo. My skill set includes grounded knowledge of
nurbs and polygon modeling, rigging, skinning, weighting and animation. Also, I
am familiar with concepts such a matte painting, camera mapping, camera tracking
and parallax.
As
a recent graduate from Sheridan College, I have two years experience using
Maya. While in school, I was fortunate to be a member of a team that produced a
short student film called Empire. This was a live action/CG film about a child
who had the ability to create cities from sand. Participating in this project
has given me the hands-on experience to use my Maya skills in a work related
setting. As a team member and producer of the film, I have gain a better
understanding of the kind of production pipeline computer animators/effects
artists employ to finish on a tight deadline. Also, I have gained valuable
interpersonal skills and have been able to communicate effectively with
colleagues in a leadership role.
Currently
I am employed part-time at Sheridan College as a Class Technical Assistant. My
role here is to provide support for students with modeling, rigging and
animation issues. I enjoy this training/educational role and would like to one
day pursue a teaching career in the future. In the past, at the University of
Waterloo, I was employed for two years as a Residence Assistant/DON. In a
quasi-similar capacity as at Sheridan, I provided support for new students
entering the university system by implementing educational programs that dealt
with health and safety, as well as some fun extracurricular activities, such as
rock-climbing.
I
am a believer of the saying that a person is forever a student. Not only
do I enjoy teaching but also I enjoy being taught. Continually learning new
skills, software and theories, such as the research and development of new
concepts into character set-up really interests me. I hope to continue learning
and improving upon my problem solving skills at Alias/Wavefront.
This
is a little bit of background information about me. I hope that I am considered
a good candidate for the position of Intermediate Maya Support. Enclosed is my
resume. References are available upon request. Please contact me at the above
address or via email.
